Dark Web Monitoring
There's a Good Chance Some of Your Passwords Are Already Out There
Billions of stolen credentials from past data breaches get traded online every day. We watch for yours. When a big company gets breached (it happens constantly) the stolen usernames and passwords get sold and passed around on criminal forums. Sometimes those lists sit there for months or years before someone starts using them.
Your employees didn't do anything wrong. The breach happened somewhere else like LinkedIn, Adobe, a healthcare provider, a retailer, etc. But if the email address and password they used there is the same one they're using to log into your business email or your accounting software, it becomes your problem.
We watch those forums and databases so you find out when your credentials show up while you still have time to do something about it.
What We Monitor
- Every Email Address on Your Domain. We continuously scan breach databases, dark web marketplaces, and criminal forums for any email address ending in your business domain. When one shows up somewhere it shouldn't be you'll hear about it quickly.
- Whether Passwords Were Exposed. Not every breach exposes actual passwords. Some just expose email addresses, names, or other less critical info. But many do expose passwords, either in plain text or in a form that's already been cracked. We flag the difference clearly. A plaintext password sitting in a breach database is a much more immediate problem than an email address alone, and we treat it that way.
- Where It Came From. Knowing which breach a credential came from helps us understand the risk. If we know the exposed password came from a 2019 breach of a specific website, we can ask whether the employee likely reused that password on your business systems.
- New Breaches as They're Discovered. Breach databases grow constantly. A credential that was clean last month might show up in a newly discovered dump this month. Our monitoring runs continuously, not just when we remember to check.
